3M Showcases its Novec Engineered Fluids at The Greenest Event
On World Environment Day, which took place this year on 5 June, 3M participated in The Future Group’s The Greenest Event. The annual expo and conference was hosted by Simon Gear at the Sandton Sun Hotel in Johannesburg and saw over 400 of the country’s leading business delegates gather for a “one day MBA in Planet Management” session to discuss issues pertinent to South Africa’s environment.
With its continuous efforts to build practices that support environmental stewardship, the event provided a platform for 3M to showcase how, as an international conglomerate, it provides practical solutions and products to address environmental challenges for both itself and its customers.
Innovation has been the 3M hallmark for more than a century. It’s more than a way of developing products; innovation is part of 3M’s DNA. An excellent example of 3M innovation and environmental commitment is found with its 3M™ Novec™ Engineered Fluids, a family of products that includes aerosol cleaners, fire protection fluids and electronics coatings used in a diverse range of industries such as electronics, aerospace, automotive and cinemas.
Fire can break out anywhere, at any time. That’s why thousands of fire protection professionals around the world rely on 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid to keep computer rooms, control centres, document storage vaults and other essential facilities safely up and running.
Based on a proprietary chemistry from 3M, Novec™ 1230 fluid addresses industry needs for clean agent fire protection that is safe and effective, while offering an environmental profile which other halocarbon agents like HFCs can’t begin to match:
Due to these environmental profiles Novec™ 1230 fluid – unlike HFCs – is not targeted for phase-down or has regulatory worldwide restrictions. It is approved for use in total flooding fire suppression systems by the U.S. EPA and most major regulatory bodies around the world. All of this makes 3M™Novec™ 1230 fluid today’s sustainable choice for clean agent fire protection.
