Abrasive Discs


  • Whether you need a multi-purpose disc or a more specialist product, our range of fibre discs is bound to have the solution. Our products include:
  • 3M™ 281C - An aluminium oxide disc constructed on a fibre backing. Resin bonded for heat resistance. Primary market: general metalworking.  Available in grades 24-120.
  • 3M™ 501C - A high performing multi-purpose aluminium zirconia (AZ) fibre disc designed to perform exceptionally well on stainless steel, carbon steel and mild steel.
  • 3M™ 985C - A premium blended Cubitron™ mineral fibre disc that gives superior performance on all metal grinding applications.  It has an aggressive cut and longer life, and is recommended for high-pressure applications.

3M Hookit™ Abrasives are a range of high performance discs and sheets.  Each product incorporates the Hookit fixing system which, when used in conjunction with a Hookit back-up pad, means it can be attached and reattached as many times as necessary.  Dust moisture and lubricants do not affect the strength of the attachment.  Available in both plain and dust-free formats.  Products include:

  • 3M 245 Discs - A heavy-duty aluminium oxide paper disc used for stock removal on metal, wood, paint and fillers.  Available in grades P40-P120.
  • 3M 255 Discs - An aluminium oxide paper product with an anti-loading coating which extends working life.  This product can be used for fine finishing on all metals.  Available in grades P180-P500.
  • Hookit Regalite™ Discs - For use with dual action disc sanders.  Grades available for stripping paint down to metal, shaping and sanding plastic filler and removal of coarser scratches in body filler and scratch refinement of bare metal.  Available in grades P40 and P80.

The Roloc™ System is designed to offer you fast and convenient grinding and finishing using small abrasive tools.  All the products in the range feature the unique Roloc twist on twist off fixing system so you can easily change grade, size, abrasive technology and product.  Products include:

  • 3M 777F Roloc Disc is a cloth disc with Cubitron ceramic mineral and a grinding aid.  Excellent for use on stainless steel.
  • Scotch-Brite™ Surface Conditioning Discs are excellent for removing machine marks and spot weld discolouration, and will not damage components.
  • 3M Roloc Coatings Removal Discs made from Clean 'n Strip™ Web are particularly efficient at removing rust and coatings on all surfaces.
  • 3M Roloc EXL Unitised Discs.  These are tough deburring discs made from compressed Scotch-Brite web.  They leave a find finish with no undercutting.
  • 3M Clean 'n Strip Roloc Discs are designed for pre-weld cleaning and post-weld "blue" removal.  This conformable tough web is ideal for removing rust and other surface coatings.
  • 3M 361F Roloc Discs.  An aluminium oxide Roloc disc constructed on a YF-weight, water-resistant polyester cloth backing.  Resin bonded for heat resistance.  Can be run wet or dry.  Available in grades P24-P50.
  • 3M Roloc Bristle Discs.  These plastic brush-like bristle discs work with the Roloc System.  Designed for cleaning or stripping a variety of coatings.  Removes very little base material from the work piece.  Available in grades P50-P120.  One-, two- and three-inch discs with a standard Roloc attachment efficiently clean or strip most substances from metal surfaces without damaging the work piece.  In addition, the 4-, 5- and 7-inch bristle discs remove paint, stains, adhesives, weld burns, heavy oxides and surface contaminants from large areas quickly and easily with light pressure from the operator.

3M Stikit™ Abrasives are a range of high performance discs and sheets.  The backing of each product is coated with a special self-adhesive system.  This ensures that the product remains firmly attached to the 3M Stikit back-up pads whilst in use but is easy to apply and quick to removed when it needs changing.  Available in both plain and dust-free formats.  Products include:

  • 3M 245 Discs - a heavy-duty aluminium oxide paper disc used for stock removal on metal, wood, paint and fillers.  Available in grades P40-P120.
  • 3M 255 Discs - an aluminium oxide paper product with an anti-loading coating which extends working life.  This product can be used for fine finishing on all metals.  Available in grades P80-P320.
  • 3M 212 PSA Discs.  3M Stikit Abrasive 212 offers long life and anti-loading properties.  The self-adhesive Stikit coating allows easy application and precise positioning of the product.  Available in grades P36-P320.

Green Corps™

  • The Green Corps Cut-Off Wheel, incorporating 3M's patented Cubitron abrasive grain, an advanced ceramic aluminium oxide mineral, is designed to provide high cut rates and long life on most materials including fibreglass, stainless steel, mild steel and aerospace alloys.  Ideal for use on a wide variety of utility-type cut-off tools.  Do not use on tools without guards.
  • Green Corps Flexible Grinding Discs.  Bonded abrasive designed for right-angle tools.  3M Cubitron abrasive grain provides a fast cut and a smooth finish on a variety of work pieces, eliminating several process steps.  Applications include weld grinding and blending, de-scaling and weld-splatter removal.
