I have been practicing for the last 12 years and thus have tried every new material that has appeared on the market. In all this time, no single material has impressed me more than Filtek™ Supreme XTE.
I have been practicing for the last 12 years and thus have tried every new material that has appeared on the market. In all this time, no single material has impressed me more than Filtek™ Supreme XTE. This material is remarkable with regards to its consistency, smooth texture and excellent colour, never before have I come across an aesthetic material where the discoloration is so minimal. This I have noticed when patients return months later for their hygiene and maintenance appointments. In addition to these advantages, I have to mention that my patients' satisfaction is undoubtedly the biggest plus.
I have found that in difficult cases where there is no possibility of a bevel, the materials adherence to the tooth structure is of such a great quality that the margin between the tooth and material is non discernible. This attribute is due to Filtek™ Supreme’s unique Nano technology, which is also a great time saving factor in that less (if any), post operative polishing is needed.

I remember so vividly the time when 3M ESPE came to my practice to introduce the Original Filtek™ Supreme as I had been a Z100™ user for so many years.
I remember so vividly the time when 3M ESPE came to my practice to introduce the Original Filtek™ Supreme as I had been a Z100™ user for so many years. I had been using the layering technique with good results but nothing exceptional. I was so impressed with the excellent aesthetic results that I achieved with minimal effort; the material was indispensible in my practice. Little did I know that the best was yet to come! With Supreme XTE I have been able to give my patients the type of restorations that I will gladly place in my own mouth. The material is easy to use, unparalleled aesthetic properties and very easy learning curve that my nurse today will pick out the shade as I am still talking to the patient!

I have always been a loyal 3M ESPE supporter and for many years I've used Z100™. After receiving information from 3M ESPE, I decided to give Filtek™ Supreme XTE a try. This product has changed my practice.

It is more aesthetic in the anterior restoration. Previously I have struggled to get rid of the greyish appearance of lighter anterior restorations, which is not the case anymore. With the smaller particles size, you are able to get a smoother polished surface with excellent colour stability and higher stain resistance.
The consistency makes placement exceptionally easy.

It was easy to follow the progression to a better material in the handling and the aesthetics. The packaging design was more clear, and a variety of shades makes colour matching easy. Using the layering technique brought out the artist in me.
Results speak for themselves. Being a conservative dentist in my treatment approach, especially where cost saving is also a factor, the outcome is satisfying when doing direct composite restorations. Strong and reliable. Patient satisfaction with long term results.

The fact that 3M ESPE colour coded the different opacities makes it even easier for the Dentist and Assistant to work with. Now with Scothchbond™ Universal, it is great to use the Filtek™ Supreme XTE for porcelain repairs. Congratulations 3M ESPE on a Fantastic product.
A young lady of 17 came with a diastema between her central incisors- saying that "I'm embarrassed to smile" . She couldn't afford porcelain veneers as she was in high school and I practice in a fairly poor economic area. Just before leaving the cold shores of the UK to return home to South Africa, I attended a Dental Innovations conference in Birmingham where 3M ESPE were launching their new composite Filtek™ Supreme XTE. I purchased the new introductory kit with full range of colours and Scotchbond™ Multipurpose bond and brushes as well as the new Epilar™ Freelight cordless light.
Just before leaving the cold shores of the UK to return home to South Africa, I attended a Dental Innovations conference in Birmingham where 3M ESPE were launching their new composite Filtek™ Supreme XTE. I was set to restore before I had a practice or patient to work with. I arrived in South Africa but unfortunately my suitcase and new materials did not. They are still travelling somewhere!
Once set up I replaced my travelling kit, and am still using the large box whose compartments have been refilled over and over again. My Filtek™ capsules have been filling the gaps and cavities for 9 years and although the bonding agents have changed and the techniques tweaked, the predictability and performance have remained the same. My favourite treatment is the multi-layer up of direct anterior veneers utilising the dentine, body and enamel variations of a colour.
Nothing builds a practice quicker than the speedy restoring of a fractured incisor and the patient saying "it looks just like my own tooth" or "you would never even say it was broken".
My confidence as a Dentists has increased each time I recalled my patients to see how the material has remained colour stable and the margins have no brown borders. By sticking with my brand I have avoided unused dead stock cluttering my drawers, and with the bulk buy promo's and specials, I keep the bank manager happy. But nothing beats the feeling of confidence that you have telling your patient that they have the best material in their mouth and the reward for putting your money where their mouth is, when the material backs up my claims.

One of the reasons I became a Dentist was that I had a chipped front tooth that I got teased about at school. We were advised by a dentist that I needed a crown and my dad could not afford it and it made a great difference to my confidence when I had it filled years later.

I saw a 48 year old patient 2 years ago and he came to us to have a chipped front tooth filled. I noticed while speaking to him that he was quite reserved and tended to pull his top lip down as he spoke and often gestured to cover his mouth as he spoke. When I had a look at his upper incisors I could understand why, he had large dull greyish discoloured interproximal fillings that were really noticeable and there was a chip on the distal corner of his upper right central incisor and the interproximal filling had come out. There was no doubt I was going to use Filtek™ Supreme XTE to restore this tooth, with its handling which lends itself to sculpting and following the contours of the tooth, the versatile combination of the enamel, dentine and body shades which enable reproduction of the multiple natural tooth colours and smooth polishability to get that glass like lustre of enamel.
The restoration finished beautifully and I showed it to him in the mirror, he was quite intrigued that it matched the rest of his tooth so well. Two days later he came to the surgery and asked to speak to me. He was quite excited and animated this time, not the reserved gentleman I saw before."Doctor can you work your magic for the rest of my front teeth, I mean what you did with this front tooth is amazing, please?" He wanted an appointment as soon as possible. We replaced the other discoloured restorations a few days later, this time he asked for the mirror to see what his teeth looked like."Wow this is magic! You are a an artist, I can smile again!" He exclaimed. One year later he brought his fiancée for a check up, and he said to us that being able to smile again had really changed his life and sense of self worth. He felt more confident speaking to people and being engaged to a beautiful woman bore testimony to this change we had brought about in him. For me this was an opportunity to change someone’s life in a way I had experienced myself, and it gave me a great sense of fulfilment.
