Building brought to life with barcode wrapping
09/11/2011 An old building on the island of Amager in Copenhagen has had its facade completely renovated using 3M™ Controltac™ Series 180 film. It is the first time ever that film has been used in the creation of a permanent, large-scale facade solution. The facade covers a total of 10,000 square metres, all of which have been covered with the film.
The building, now known as The Barcode because of the characteristic, horizontal black and white stripe pattern screen printed onto the film, is the property of real estate investment firm Topdanmark Ejendom. The aim of the building’s resurrection as The Barcode was to make it more attractive to potential new tenants.
The Barcode is an example of how innovative, architectural shaping and the development of new solutions in materials can be combined. 3M films provide solutions to architects all over the world.
