JD Customs creates a great eye catcher with the new 3M car wrap film.
15/11/2011 This year a BWM M5 was the first car ever in the Benelux to be wrapped with the new 3M™ Scotchprint® Car Wrap Film 1080 in carbon black. JD Customs from Bergschenhoek in the Netherlands displayed the result at the Supercardrive Boulevard Tour 2011. According to managing director Jordy Dost the car was a great success: 'We received a lot of positive reactions and the car created an immediate demand for this unique film'.
The new 3M™ Scotchprint® Wrap Film Series 1080 is a durable, dual cast film especially developed for car customization. The 1080 series has the same features as Controltac™ Films with Comply™ v3 Adhesive, that is, slideable and repositionable adhesive with virtually invisible air release channels which simplify the application process. The film is available in various gloss and matte colours, as well as designs with 3D-structure.
A first for the Benelux
JD Customs uses 3M car wrap films exclusively. Jordy Dost: ‘We have used films from other manufacturers in the past, but we noticed a great demand for 3M products in the market. We applied the SP1080 in carbon black to one of our own show cars first, the BMW M5'.
Unique characteristics
According to Jordy Dost, the unique characteristics of the SP1080 are the main reason for its success. ‘The film has, unlike similar products, a tangible 3D-structure and has a distinct gloss in direct sunlight. It is of great importance to us that the film is equally easy applicable on all painted parts as the 3M standard films. Furthermore, the SP1080 can be processed directly from the roll. There is no need for printing or laminating.’ Because of the 60-inch roll-width the film can be applied seamlessly.
